You only need 130 on the WAIS (SD 15) i.e. two standard deviations above the mean. Mensa's cutoff is top 2%, not top 0.4%. Your point still stands of course. I just wanted to correct the record. Of course this will vary with SD. Most tests are 15 or 16, so 130-132 typically qualify depending on the test.
